Flight Calendar:

Most 2017 flights will be tests of the AtmoSniffer and flight camera optimization for the 21 August 2017 total solar eclipse flight.

There is a lot of data analysis that we need to be working on. If you would like to join our team, please contact Dr. Sohl.

May 10, 2018 = HAR180510, Eagle View Elementary School, 4th Grade, Fort Duchesne, UT

May 21, 2018 = HAR180521, Rhode Island Flim Crew STEM Flight, Duchesne, UT

May 30-June 2, 2018 = HAR180611, Rhode Island Flim Crew STEM Flight, Duchesne, UT -- Flight Window

June 14-16, 2018 = HAR180615, AtmoSniffer Test Flight, MiniMSA Test Flight -- Flight Window. Alternate = GPSL.

July 10-12, 2018 = HAR180710, Duchesne, UT -- Flight Window

August 10-14, 2018 = HAR180731, Short Flight Week. (Flew only on HAR180712.)

September 28-30, 2018 = HAR180929, Duchesne, UT

September 21-23 = backup date if the following week is looking poor.

October 5-7 = backup date if Sept 28-30 doesn't work.

Typical Flight Day Schedules for Stratospheric Flights:

Typical “single-flight” (2-day) agenda:
Day 1:
9:00 a.m. Prep equipment for loading
10:00 a.m. Load the HARBOR trailer
10:30 a.m. Leave WSU and drive to the flight region lodgings. Meals will be obtained en route and at the final destination as appropriate.
11:30 a.m. Lunch in Heber City
2:30 p.m. Arrive at either the Duchesne Airport or our lodgings. Start equipment prep and trailer unloading.
6:00 p.m. Dinner
7:00 p.m. Continue flight prep.
Day 2:
6:00 a.m. wake up call and breakfast.
7:00 a.m. Head to flight operations location and start flight prep.
9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Launch
11:30 to 12:30 a.m. Landing and recovery mission.
1:00 p.m. Team lunch
2:30 p.m. Return to base and begin data analysis and trailer loading of equipment for return home.
4:00 p.m. Base operations complete and trailer loaded start return trip to Ogden.
5:30 p.m. Lunch in Heber City.
8:00 p.m. Return to WSU. Unload the trailer and store all flight equipment. Return the trailer to the trailer yard.
9:00 p.m. Mission complete.


Typical “multi-flight” (multi-day) agenda:

Day 1:
9:00 a.m. Prep equipment for loading
10:00 a.m. Load the HARBOR trailer
10:30 a.m. Leave WSU and drive to the flight region lodgings. Meals will be obtained en route and at the final destination as appropriate.
11:30 a.m. Lunch in Heber City
2:30 p.m. Arrive at either the Duchesne Airport or our lodgings. Start equipment prep and trailer unloading.
6:00 p.m. Dinner
7:00 p.m. Continue flight prep.
Days 2 to N:
6:00 a.m. wake up call and breakfast.
7:00 a.m. Head to flight operations location and start flight prep.
9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Launch
11:30 to 12:30 a.m. Landing and recovery mission.
1:00 p.m. Team lunch
2:30 p.m. Return to base and begin data analysis and equipment prep for the next day’s flight.
Day N:
Same as above, except at the end of lunch we return to base to pack up gear.
4:00 p.m. Base operations complete and trailer loaded start return trip to Ogden.
5:30 p.m. Lunch in Heber City.
8:00 p.m. Return to WSU. Unload the trailer and store all flight equipment. Return the trailer to the trailer yard.
9:00 p.m. Mission complete.
